Mechanical performance and autogenous and drying shrinkage of MgO-based recycled aggregate high-performance concrete

چکیده

The high strength and durability of high-performance concrete (HPC) may be significantly reduced by shrinkage cracking. use reactive magnesium oxide (MgO) can reduce cement-based materials due to its expansive properties. This study intends analyse the validity MgO as shrinkage-reducing agent in recycled aggregate HPC. To do so, ten HPC mixes with 0%, 25%, 100% both early-age (7-days air curing) matured (6-month RA were produced. In half mixes, 10% ordinary Portland cement was replaced MgO. slightly worsened mechanical behaviour HPC, especially when combined large amounts RA. On other hand, expansion fully offset autogenous total around 20–40%. Water storage RA, deferred release over time, produced a more efficient hydration MgO, which turn led further reduction shrinkage. However, increase drying caused greater than this decrease so higher content lower adding Thus, compensated because above 35% 42% Therefore, despite suitability effectiveness increasing

Evaluation of Autogenous Shrinkage in High-Performance Concrete

Recent tendencies in concrete technology have been towards to high- performance concrete with a low water-cement ratio. However, high performance concretes have some problems. One of the problems is early-age cracking due to autogenous shrinkage. This study presents the results of an experimental investigation carried out to evaluate the autogenous shrinkage of high-strength concrete. Accordi...

Drying shrinkage of concrete made from recycled concrete aggregate

Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) are used in new concrete mixes, termed recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). Among losses in most fresh and hardened properties, literature reports that RAC suffers increased levels of drying shrinkage compared to equivalent mixes incorporating conventional aggregates. This paper describes the procedure and results of a range of experiments conducted on a commerc...

Performance of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement Containing Recycled Concrete Aggregate

In 1995, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began reconstruction in Houston on a section of IH-10 with continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP). The unique aspect of this project was the use of crushed concrete as both coarse and fine aggregates in the new concrete. No virgin aggregates were used. The primary objectives of this study were to evaluate (1) the material propert...

Performance and Implementation of Low-Quality Recycled Concrete Aggregate

Our project seeks to greatly reduce the energy required for concrete production by using mostly recycled concrete. The use of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) is not a new phenomenon, but has not been studied in the context of low-cost disaster reconstruction efforts, which was our focus—specifically, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. In our experiments, we sought to replicate the variability in c...
